Buddhism for Beginners Level 1 (starts 10th June)

A newly improved six-week course presented on Zoom. The perfect way to ground your understanding of basic Buddhist philosophy and ethics.

This introduction to Buddhism presents the basic world view of Buddhist and how its thinking and ethical behavior lead towards insight, caring and meaning in our lives. We will look at ourselves and how we change, choosing and developing habits with happier outcomes.

This course will be presented in partnership with Warwick Triratna.


Wk 1Exploring the Buddha’s persona followed by an introduction to meditation
Wk 2Mindfulness of Breathing meditation followed by exploring habits and emotions and how they change
Wk 3Loving Kindness ‘Metta Bhavana meditation followed by Imagining and exploring helpful habits to develop
Wk 4Metta Bhavana followed by exploring the five Buddhist precepts. Helpful principles leading to a happy and confident mind
Wk 5A workshop for working with difficulties in mediation. followed by seeing how it works in practice
Wk 6A ‘Metta Bhavana for those on the course followed by the Buddhist perspective on existence. Exploring the three marks (Lakshanas) of conditioned existence.

How to join

You need to book a place on this course. You will receive a booking confirmation and then shortly before the first event you will be emailed course notes and a Zoom link.

Is this course suitable for me?

Do I need to attend every session?

There is a lot packed in to the six sessions so try not to miss more than you have to. It is possible to join in the second week if you missed the first but after that you need to wait for the next course in order too join.

What do I need to particate?

You may find it helpful to have a notebook and pen to hand. No special equipment is needed for the meditation. So long as you can join on Zoom and have somewhere quiet to sit undisturbed you have everything you need.
