Radical Transformation-an introduction to Buddhism & Meditation
Wednesday, October 7th @ 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm
A six-week adventure to greater clarity, freedom and joy.
Can we really find happiness in more and more distraction, and having ever more stuff? Buddhism tells us that this won’t work – but that there is a real happiness to be found, if we look in the right place.
Over six Wednesday evenings, you will learn the two most important Buddhist meditation practices, and try out some powerful Buddhist wisdom teachings that can change the way we see the world. You’ll be meeting with the same group of people each week giving the chance to relax and make connections with other like-minded folk.
Using a combination of teaching, discussion and meditation, this course will give you the tools to transform your life using the practical and profound teachings of Buddhism.

Week 1
We’ll introduce you to the mindfulness of breathing meditation. You’ll hear the life story of the Buddha and learn about three main principles of Buddhism.
Week 2
We continue exploring the mindfulness of breathing and guide you through a practical teaching on the workings of the mind.
Week 3
We explore the meaning of karma in Buddhism and how we can work with it, as well as introduce the second meditation we use to develop positive emotion.
Week 4
We look at the five principles of action that help move our lives in a more positive direction, giving us the ability to skilfully direct the course of our lives. We also have a second session on the meditation that develops positive emotion.
Week 5
A week dedicated entirely to meditation practice, with the whole evening given over to questions, a workshop, and longer sessions of meditation practice.
Week 6
A deep dive into the profound wisdom teachings found in Buddhism which, when applied to our lives, can bring great freedom and joy.

It’s best if you can but we understand that life gets in the way sometimes! If you can’t make the first session, it is possible to join in the second but not later than that.
What do I need to bring with me?
You don’t need any course materials. Cushions and mats for meditation are provided. A notebook and pen could be useful.
