Reaching for the Stars

Friday, January 21st @ 5:30 pm Sunday, January 23rd @ 3:30 pm

Sangha retreat at Vajrasana

Sangha is a Buddhist word for Spiritual Community. You do not have to be a Buddhist, or want to be a Buddhist, to be part of our Sangha.

Do you feel your life is limited? Do you want to go beyond your current experience? Do you want to be or achieve more than you ever thought possible, but feel held back?

The Buddha was the original Influencer. But he wasn’t trying to sell us anything. He was urging us to pick up the “sword of wisdom” and to use it to conquer those things that hold us back. To go beyond our fears and to create greater meaning and purpose in our lives. The Buddha’s remarkable achievements, and the achievements of those who answered his call to action then – and for the next 2500 years – are an inspiration to us all.

The Buddha was not a God. We can all become Buddhas. Come and find out how.

Our Retreat will involve meditation, talks from experienced Buddhist teachers, collective rituals, storytelling, discussions and enjoying the great outdoors. All activities are optional and you can take some space, if you need it, at any time. It will be held a Varjasana, at the beautiful Retreat Centre just outside Bury St Edmunds.

  • Full £120 / Concessions £100
  • Under 30s £70 (SPECIAL EXTENDED DISCOUNT £50 before 5th Jan!)

In your early 30s or younger?

Special price for our Sub30s Group!
Some of the Sub30s Group activities will be different to the rest of the Retreat. In the past there has been Drumming, Walking Meditations, Shrine Building and Outdoor Activities.

Your Questions

Is this event suitable for me?

You do not have to be a Buddhist, or want to be a Buddhist, to attend. If you have never meditated before, special instruction will be given to you before the event starts.

This retreat is suitable for anyone. If this is your first retreat please email retreats@ipswichbuddhistcentre.org.uk to let us know so that we can offer a little additional introduction.

Do I need to come for the whole event?

It is best if you plan to come for the whole event. It is good to arrive in time for supper on Friday and expect to leave by 3pm on Sunday.

What is the accommodation like?

All rooms are single sex and generally, two people share a room. We try to make sure everyone shares a room with someone they know. If you have a health condition that requires you to have a single room, please let us know – we will accommodate you if we can, on a first-come, first-served basis”

What if I have specific needs such as diet or access?

All food is vegetarian with plenty of vegan options. Vajrasana has good wheelchair access throughout. If you any specific needs please email retreats@ipswichbuddhistcentre.org.uk
