Summer Sangha Retreat – Taming Your Demons
Friday, September 16th @ 6:00 pm – Sunday, September 18th @ 2:30 pm
The word “Sangha” means spiritual community. You do not have to be a Buddhist, or want to be a Buddhist, to be part of our Sangha for this retreat.
We all have demons in our lives. External demons – people we have difficulty with, jobs we dislike, money worries, concerns about the state of the planet. And internal demons – questioning our life purpose, our sense of self-worth, past regrets, future worries.
Sometimes we can feel overpowered by these demons and feel unable to make any positive change in our lives. But Buddhist practice is transformational in ways far beyond the limits of our imagination. Individually and collectively, we can use Buddhist teachings not only to tame our demons, but to work them to our advantage. In every difficult situation, there is a sparkling jewel to be discovered!
Padmasambhava, an important Tibetan figure in the development of Buddhism, tamed dark forces in his quest to bring Buddhism to Tibet, and used them to create positive change. On this retreat, we will be learning from his experience and advice. Over 10 centuries after he first wrote it, his teachings are as relevant today as they ever were.
Our retreat will involve meditation, talks, collective rituals, storytelling, discussions and outdoor activities at the stunning Vajrasana Retreat Centre near Bury St Edmunds. Price includes all accommodation and food.
