Young Buddhists: First Friday

Friday, July 7th @ 7:00 pm 9:00 pm

Growing up and Giving up. Letting go of what causes our suffering.

Some newcomers are surprised when they visit Ipswich Buddhist Centre. They expect shaven heads, orange robes and celibacy.

But we are Western Buddhists. Yes, there are those among us who have chosen celibacy and live, in communities, with very few possessions. But many of us are living “conventional” Western lifestyles, with homes, families, jobs and all the complexities those entail.

The Buddhist tradition of renunciation is an important aspect of the spiritual path. But this does not mean we have to give up our jobs, shave our heads and carry a begging bowl. Even in a Western, capitalist society, it is possible to live Buddhist values and let go of the things in our lives that hold us back. Come and find out how.

Friendship, Connection, Transformation and the all important Cake! Come and get it all at our First Friday class. There will be meditation, Buddhist teachings, lively discussions and the opportunity to get to know each other better. Transform your life in ways beyond your wildest dreams, and maybe even have some fun in the process. Complete beginners welcome!
