Three New Dharmacharinis Join the Ipswich Sangha 

It is with a joyful heart we introduce three brand-new, bright and beautiful Dharmacharinis to the Ipswich Buddhist Centre. These well-known friends are now fully ordained Order Members who will join us once they return from their three-month retreat.

Below are the details of their new Pali and Sanskrit names .

Gina Plant Cabrita –  becomes Śūnyamaṇi
(accent on ‘S’ and dot under ‘n’)
Registered spelling: Shunyamani
A Sanskrit name meaning ‘One who is a jewel of emptiness’
Private preceptor: Singhashri.
Śunyamani is sitting in the front row – second on the right.

Mosaic Craigie-Williams – becomes Sārasijā
(first and last ‘a’ long)
Registered spelling: Sarasija
A Sanskrit name meaning ‘She who is like a lotus’
Private preceptor: Shubha
Sārasijā is sitting in the middle row forth from the right.

Ruth Cheesley becomes Sīlavāpi
(first ‘i’ and second ‘a’ long)
Registered spelling: Silavapi
A Pali name meaning ‘She who is a lake of virtuous conduct’
Private preceptor: Acalavajri
Sīlavāpi is standing in the back row third from the right.
