Our local charities need our help! Our generous Sangha has shown fantastic support for local Charities and we are launching a September appeal to meet urgent need. We are asking for specific donations for the Ipswich Family Bank (formerly Suffolk Baby Hub) and Ipswich Outreach (Soup Kitchen), Lighthouse Women’s Aid and FIND (Families in Need food bank). Below you will find the specific items that are needed by each charity and we would love to hear from you if you are able to donate any of these items. Please note we are unable to collect monetary donations.
Ipswich Family Bank
(Formerly Suffolk Baby Hub), The Ipswich Family Bank provides support for struggling families, babies and children. Current needs are for:
- Nappies size 4 and above
- Tinned potatoes
- Children’s cereals
- Toiletries
- Jelly puddings
- (No Baby Milk this time thanks)
Ipswich Outreach
Ipswich Outreach provides support for people who are hungry and/or homeless in Ipswich. To support the nightly soup kitchen our Centre regularly has collections for this great charity. Please note that due to Covid 19 restrictions, items are limited to individually wrapped items as detailed below. Current needs:
- Crisps – multipack and individually wrapped packets
- Biscuits which are individually wrapped
- Toiletries for men and women (especially antiperspirant)
- shower gel
- Wet wipes
- Small bottled water
- Unused men’s underwear
- Unused socks
- Toilet roll
- Disposable razors
- Shaving cream
FIND (Families in Need food bank)
FIND urgently requires the following items and is instrumental in assisting local families and refugees – especially those from Afghanistan -Tinned items:
- Baked beans
- Garden peas
- Tomatoes
- Soup
Special appeal – FIND is also asking if there is a carpenter locally who would be willing to
volunteer to build some shelving for them. The shelving will greatly assist the charity in separating
food items according to different dietary requirements and particularly different religious requirements. If you are interested please contact Maureen on 01473 833351.
Lighthouse Women’s Aid
Lighthouse offer safety and support for women and families where they can recover from the effects of domestic violence. They are looking for new notebooks and pens which the women in their care can use to support their recovery.

The Community Action Kula will be launching a Christmas Appeal again this year! Last Christmas we had a tremendous and generous response from the Sangha – let’s see what we can do this
year! We will be collecting for the Christmas collection 3rd to 5th December 2021 – more details to follow – Watch this space!
