Over the next six months, from June till November, Friends Night has as its theme the Motto that Dhardo Rimpoche gave to his school: CHERISH THE DOCTRINE, LIVE UNITED AND RADIATE LOVE.
Dhardo Rimpoche set up The Tibetan Buddhist Cultural Institute, Kalimpong and wanted to give the students a motto that would be applicable for their time in school and once they left. Bhante (Sangharakshita) and Dhardo worked on the themes.
It appears that the themes have a progression to them in that, we come across the Dharma and we cherish it as we find it positively impacts our lives. We are made aware of others we meet at the Centre and how important they are to our developing a deeper and broader practice of the Dharma.
It is evident that kindness, harmony, generosity, helpfulness, gratitude, kindness etc. matter in our spiritual development and that living united is indeed enriching, nourishing and supportive. We then become aware that these two elements lead and encourage us to become more aware of a more tangible and experiential spiritual practice, one that is more alive, potent and deeply enjoyable. The ground is then set for us to radiate love to all living beings in and outside of our formal meditation.
I look forward to seeing you there.
Please keep up to date with the guests who will be giving presentations and/or talks by visiting the event pages on our website.
Yours in the Dharma, Harshaprabha
